The pretty town of Sirmione is located on the beautiful southern shore of Lake Garda in Italy, in a dramatic location near the tip of a long peninsula which juts out into the lake. It boasts a rich cultural heritage which is reflected in its stunning architecture, the most striking feature being the 13th century castle protected by its own moat, the Rocca Scaligera, which affords a truly romantic profile on the horizon. The town was a popular Roman centre due to its thermal springs, and offers excellent spa facilities to its visitors today. Historical enthusiasts won’t want to miss a trip to the atmospheric site of the Roman ruins, once a grand villa, which nestles amongst the olive groves and testifies to the resorts rich past. If you fancy a day trip further afield to visit one of the other nearby resorts around the lake, then you can take the ferry from the town centre. With Verona Airport only 45 minutes away by airport shuttle or airport taxi, and Bergamo, Brescia Montichiari, Treviso, Milan Malpensa and Venice Marco Polo also nearby, why miss out?
